Just in Time for Foster Youth (JIT) -- $50,000 Wholistic Wellness Services for Young Women Impacted by the Foster Care System
Program: Just in Time (JIT) delivers impactful mental health and wellness services to young women transitioning from foster care, many of whom are navigating the long-term effects of trauma with little to no support system. In providing therapy, wellness and empowerment workshops, they move from survival mode to a place of confidence, connection, and emotional well-being.
Results: The grant supports the salaries for the Associate Director of Youth Services/Program Leader and the Clinical Psychologist/Wellness Center Supervisor.
Over 120 young women received weekly therapy sessions, through JIT’s on-site Wellness Center. In addition, through Rise to Resilience (R2R) over 60 participants were supported in bi-weekly wellness workshops in building habits around sleep, mindfulness, nutrition, and emotional regulation. Finally, in JIT’s My Life My Story Program, over 60 participants completed a 9-month empowerment journey exploring identity, self-confidence, and communication, supported by volunteer life coaches. Through these programs, goals were met:
- Confidence: 50% → 96% felt empowered to share their story
- Connection:32% → 86% felt a strong sense of belonging
- Consciousness:35% → 93% better understood their stress triggers
- Capability:29% → 82% used healthy coping strategies
Future Plans: JIT plans to continue and expand all three services with a growing emphasis on access, extended Wellness Center hours, and an expanded network of wholistic wellness partners (e.g., nutrition, fitness, reproductive health).
